See it in action, then follow a few simple steps.
Lift the tab on the battery cover, insert 4 fresh AA alkaline batteries (matching + / −), and click the cover shut. Batteries aren't included.
Set the opener on top of the can so the can's rim sits snugly between the blade and the metal gear.
Lightly press the ON/OFF button once and let go. It grips and rotates around the can on its own — no twisting.
After one full rotation, press ON/OFF again. It stops and releases the lid onto the magnet.

This unit doesn't auto-stop — you stop it. After it completes one full rotation around the can, press the ON/OFF button again. It will stop and release the lid onto the magnet.
Pressing once at the end every time also prevents over-cutting and any metal shavings. Make it a habit: press to start, press to stop.
If you press and it still does not stop, try a hard press. It is possible the ON/OFF button was pressed too hard initially, preventing it from turning off easily.
Nine times out of ten it's placement or power. Re-seat the opener so the can's rim sits squarely between the blade and the metal gear, press down gently, then press ON/OFF.
If it still won't bite, swap in fresh AA batteries — weak batteries are the #1 cause. A flat, stable surface helps it self-align.
It's built for standard household cans — soup, vegetables, tuna, beans, pet food, and most small-to-large sizes.
It is not designed for pop-top / ring-pull cans (open those by the tab), thick paste-style cans, or pressurized / aerosol cans. Never use it on aerosol or flammable-liquid cans.
Try fresh batteries first. Low or mismatched batteries are by far the most common cause and look exactly like a "dead" unit. Use 4 new AA alkalines of the same brand — don't mix old and new, or different battery types.
Check the battery cover is fully closed and the + / − are aligned. If it's truly not working with fresh batteries, that's covered — contact us and we'll replace it.
Let it complete the rotation without lifting or tilting it mid-cut. If it stalls, the rim may have slipped out of the blade-and-gear track — stop, re-seat it squarely, and restart.
Inconsistent power usually points to weak batteries, so replace those before anything else.
The magnet lifts most standard lids; very large lids can be heavier. If it doesn't catch, use the lid-remover lever on the front of the opener to gently pry the lid up.
If food is sticking the lid down, lift it by hand instead. Keep the magnet area clean and dry for the best hold.
Make sure you've pressed ON/OFF to stop it — it releases automatically when the cycle ends. Then lift it straight up. If the lid is holding it down, use the front lid-remover lever to free the lid first.
A little motor and gear noise during the few seconds it's cutting is normal for an automatic opener. If you hear grinding without it actually cutting, that's usually a placement or battery issue — re-seat it and try fresh batteries.
It uses 4 × AA alkaline batteries (not included). For best performance use four new batteries of the same type — never mix old and new, or alkaline with rechargeable. Remove the batteries if you're storing it for a long time.
Remove the batteries first, then wipe the outside with a damp cloth. Never submerge it, rinse it under the tap, or put it in the dishwasher. Store it dry and out of reach of children. The blade is sharp — don't touch it with your fingers.
