Welcome — let's get the most out of your coffee maker

It depends on how hard your water is. Descale monthly if your water is moderately hard, and every 2–3 weeks if it's hard or very hard. 85% of the US has some degree of hard water — use the map included on your manual as a general guide, or check your local water utility's annual quality report for your exact number.

This usually means one of the following: the funnel is not being inserted correctly, the grind is too fine, too many grounds are being added (above the Max line), or a paper filter is being used together with the permanent filter. Never remove the filter mid-brew — if water isn't draining, unplug the unit and wait 10 minutes before opening the lid; the water/coffee inside is extremely hot.

The unit keeps brewing even with the carafe removed. Always replace the carafe on the warming plate within 30 seconds, or the filter basket will overflow.

That's the auto-off safety feature — the unit powers down after 2 hours to keep coffee from over-warming. Press On/Off again to resume keeping it warm.

No — the permanent filter is reusable and paper-free. If you prefer paper, use a standard 8–12 cup basket-style filter, dampened first so it doesn't collapse, and don't combine it with the permanent filter (that's a common clog cause).

Unplug and let it cool. Hand-wash the filter, funnel, carafe, and lid in warm soapy water — no abrasive pads. Wipe the reservoir and exterior with a damp cloth. The carafe is technically top-rack dishwasher safe but we don't recommend it; markings can fade over time.
